It's Christmas Eve. Whether or not you are participating in all the festivities that accompany this time of year, December can be very challenging.
Its not all joy and cheer and peace and happy-clappy family time (though social media might have you thinking differently - remember on here are the best highlights - the outtakes and bloopers rarely make the cut!)
As we approach the end of another calendar year deeper internal reflection often occurs and to contend with that the societal expectations RE what this time of year 'should' look like are set ridiculously high (also remember the capitalist commercialism bubble that we live within in the Western world relies on us buying into these 'shoulds' literally )
Please remember there is no 'right' way to spend the holidays.
But a great thing to do today and always is take great care of yourself. So that's my invitation to you today. To love on yourself, despite. To love on yourself regardless. To love on yourself nonetheless. You matter. You are important. You are loved. You are valuable.
You may have lost someone special this year, a partnership you were investing in may have fallen through, a dream you hoped for might not have happened, a goal you set might not have been achieved, you might have faced an unexpected health issue or another spanner in the works ...
But still you get to choose. You get to choose how you define the experiences and moments that made up 2018. You get to decide what this year was all about for you. You get to choose what stories you tell
And you also get to decide how you interact with today, and tomorrow, and the rest of the holiday season.
But most importantly?
You can choose YOU.
You get to choose to set boundaries. You can choose to speak your truth. You get to choose how you treat yourself
So love on yourself dear one: Choose you. Today & always. For all you've done & all you've been. For all you are & all you stand for. For all your growth & all the lessons. For being here. For showing up. For making it through today. For choosing life.
I love you. I see you. I salute you.
Cheers to you, you beautiful soul.
Wishing you a nourishing and restorative holiday season.
